Waiver Services are in Jeopardy!!

5/12/2016

On Wednesday the Appropriations Committee announced their amendments made to House Bill 1(HB1).  This committee drastically cut health care services for Louisianan citizens.

Services outlined to be cut:

  • Closure of hospitals
  • Medical education training programs for medical residents
  • Cuts to our Medicaid budget: slash waivers and optional programs that care for our state’s most vulnerable patients and families, placing these populations in extreme danger.
    • Waivers and programs, affecting over 5,600 individuals and families, would be eliminated to meet the budget targets set by the House Appropriations Committee:
      • Adult Day Health Waiver
      • Pediatric Day Health Care
      • Reduced Independent Living Services through New Opportunities Waiver
      • Children’s Choice Waiver
      • Supports Waiver
      • Residential Options Waiver

The full impact of these cuts can be found here in the Governor’s Press Release.
